Note: Kopp’s Guide is no longer updated. We recommend Zygor’s guide for Alliance and Horde leveling.
For many players, leveling up in World of Warcraft to get to the end game can seem more like a job than a leisure activity. Thankfully, Brian Kopp’s WotLK Alliance Northrend leveling guide is here to change that. Brians guide has been updated for the Wrath of the Lich King expansion and now covers all levels from 1-80.This is more than just your typical guide in pdf format. It is also an in-game mod that allows you follow the guide, step-by-step, right on in your game interface. Brian calls it a virtual WoW “GPS system”, and that’s a perfect description of what it does, as it shows you exactly where you need to go for each step. If you hated tabbing out of the game to read a pdf with previous guides, then you are going to love this leveling mod.
Here’s how Brian Kopp’s WotLK Alliance leveling guide “GPS System” works:
- The in-game window is resizable and allows you to adjust the transparency to your liking.
- Two steps are shown in the window and you can move forward or backward to seem up coming steps or previous ones.
- Window can be minimized when not in use. When minimized, you can mouse over to see the current step objectives.
- Each step will mark the coordinate on your map and give you a waypoint arrow pointing you in the direction you need to go and disappear when you get there. The distance and time to get there will also be displayed next to the arrow.
- Each character has its own profile that keeps track of what step you are on.
The pdf version is also available for those that want to read the guide outside the game or print it out. This guide is perfect for players new to WoW and veterans alike.
Anyone looking to hit level 80 as fast as possible needs to take a look at Brian Kopp’s WotLK Alliance leveling guide.

There are dozens of WoW PvP Guides out there and they all promise something similar. They tell you they can help you become better with your class and help you defeat every other class with top notch strategies. But, many of them only give you generalized information at the most and a whole host of useless tasks to run you through that may or may not actually help. They are highly subjective in the end and can often be outdated by a patch or two, making them almost entirely useless. So, how do you find a good WoW PvP Guide for your specific character’s needs?
The Goals of a WoW PvP Guide
To start with, you need to ask what the goals of a good WoW PvP Guide truly are. They should not be to provide rehashed class information or useless overviews of the arena locations. You can find that on the official website if you really wanted it for some reason. No, what they should be for is to provide a basic overview of PvP situations for beginners and increasingly in-depth analysis of specific PvP matchups, situations and battlegrounds so that you can learn how to better play your character across the board.
This means that you should except to find in your WoW PvP Guide information on how to win all 81 dual matchups, how to start taking on many of the 72 different 2v2 arena teams, what archetypes and methods are used for 3v3 and 5v5 arena teams and how to get into battlegrounds and take them on without being yet another member of the bottom 5 players on the scoreboard.
WoW PvP Guides for Everyone
Most of all, a good WoW PvP Guide should be written for everyone. It should not be just a specific guide for one class that assumes all players will use a couple of different team combinations. It should not have forty pages on Rogues in PvP and four pages on Paladins. It should be evenly split up across all 9 classes with details about talent specs, gear selection add-ons for PvP , macros to use, websites to research, and the myriad of different matchups you will face at any given point in time in the near future. Your goal should be to take on the World of Warcraft community with the best WoW PvP guide available and use it as a stepping stone to becoming incredibly good at what you do – among the best players around for years to come.

In the new content for Wrath of the Lich King, a great deal of changes have been made with new content flooding in regarding the Death Knight class, how it will played and what each talent tree entails. Creating an intriguing new melee/casting hybrid, the Death Knight has multiple play options, from playing support to tanking, to casting and even off healing in certain situations. The end result is a class that few have come close to mastering yet and many are excited to start playing for the first time.
The Blood Talent Tree is best used for hybrid tanking or higher DPS focusing on physical damage similar to the arms tree for Warriors. For the most part, you can land a solid role in a raid as a DPS Death Knight and could probably do a good job in one as an off-tank with this build. Additionally, expect the DPS build of a Death Knight to be a very popular method by which to enter PvP due to the tanking abilities.
The frost talent tree is the home of the spells and burst damage potential. There are no dedicated Frost builds that truly take advantage of everything the build has to offer, with most builds including a mix of either Blood or Unholy Talents. For the most part, the Frost/Blood hybrids are best for tanking while the Frost/Unholy hybrids work best for PvP.
The Unholy Tree is going to be the tree with which those who enjoy the calling of Undead seek out. Here you will focus on your summons and diseases, a combination that makes for good tanking qualities as well as hybriding with other classes for DPS builds.
Overall, the final verdict on each of these talent trees will not be seen until the game has been released for some time and players have had a chance to build their Death Knights and test them in various situations. However, from first glimpse, the Death Knight is not only a powerful adversary; it is a very versatile group member.
